morale booster

Such a long time since I posted! I have been really busy since the start of school, with the mods becoming more challenging and each lecture leaving my brain thoroughly exercised.

It is recess week now! This sem has passed by monstrously fast, and having spent the week studying, I realised it is good habit to actually revise your work continuously and it is actually a morale booster when you can actually understand.

Actually its all a matter of skill and luck to understand the mods but oh well.

taiwan trip!

Since I'm waiting for facebook to upload my photos of chess camp, I thought I'd do a quick update.

Chess camp 2010! I had such an awesome time for CheSS camp 2009 that I had to return as an OGL to let the freshies have the same level of fun that I had. It was really disappointing for me, as I lost my voice on the second day already, and I couldn't really make the whole OG as high as I can. But I really had fun all over again with the freshies! I really hope that they can become as bonded as I am with my dearest Kublai.

Recovery time after CheSS camp was really short, just 3 days before I flew off to Taiwan with my Kubs! I loved the whole trip spent with them! Loads of htht sessions, gorging out on food, shopping. It was such an awesome experience to be able to go on a holiday with a bunch of good friends! Hopefully we would be able to go on another trip like this again!

Taiwan was quite warm though, just couldnt stop perspiring when out in the sun. However, the awesomely delicious food kinda makes it up for the hot weather.

I'm swearing off bubble tea for awhile.

keeping busy.

I realised it has been over a month since my last post, when the exams are over. But it doesnt feel like a month because it has passed by so quickly! @.@

I had an awesome time at Korea with my sister, buying loads of nice clothes and getting facial products! The weather was extremely good, around 20degs or less. Sigh, I really miss that place with all the spicy food and nice shopping ): but not to fear, I will be back!

After my Korea trip I had the Engin Camp dry run, got to know loads of fun loving people and I am finally back from the real Engin Camp!

I love my cute freshies, including the guys who LOVE to go to the toilet for damn long TOGETHER, so I'm always missing one bunch of people randomly. It has been an awesome experience being an OGL and having fun together in the camp. Of course I was more tired out and stressed than the freshies, but I guess it was worth it for the freshies to have the best possible time ever.

My House nearly won a clean sweep of all the awards! I got the best OG (awesomeness!) and the best Freshie in my OG! Not mentioning that my househead got the award for best house head, the house winning the pageant, just missing out on getting best house =/

FUN! and you (:

Let's hope I havent forgotten how to study come August ):

shall not make the same mistake.

The finals are coming, the battle horn sounded, swords unsheathed, spears readied, the baying of the horses, flags raised high. It is that time of the semester already, and I must not slack off.

And you, all the best too (:

slowly, but surely?

Yes, I can say I did not totally waste this weekend away. Managed to listen to oscillations webcast and finally get the hang of it. It has really been a hectic few weeks, having a few datelines catching up to me, especially EG1413 (please go away soon D: )

I received an AWESOME manchester united jersey from alwin & sharon for my 22nd bdae. We went to makan at newton with delicious food like the stingray we ordered. Lovely dinner, but the fats!

Anyway, recently I made a vow not to turn up late for morning lectures, and I must say I'm proud that I managed to. Go me!

end of midterms.

And again, I question why I'm in chemical engineering. What a power-packed paper leaving me stunned shocked bombarded overwhelmed hopelessness. The dementors popped out and started sucking the very essence of my soul out! Okay fine not that bad but you get the idea.

It was the only paper which I just did not know how to do, which left me waiting for the damn paper to end. Bad sign, really bad sign.

Hais.

a near complete disaster.

Today was my chemistry test, and to say things started off badly would be an understatement. Just after the invigilator started the exam, I tried my calculator and to my sagging mouth's horror, the calculator suddenly decided to run outta battery at this inopportune time. Wonderful.

I've always heard of such cases but its so surreal to have to experience it first hand. To compound my misery, the previous night, the thought to pack another spare calculator into my bag was waved away by my brain. Plus, I should have listened to the signs, as zw was telling me that his calculator ran outta battery or sth, and that he needed to borrow from corn.

But not to worry, a combination of prayers and innovative ideas kept the calculator sorta running til the end of the examination. Such ideas include repeatedly whacking the calculator (as if that's really any use), warming up the effing battery with my hands (again, as if that's really any use -.- ), and punching the "On" button repeatedly (maybe that had some use). But in desperation, clinging on to such thin threads of hope kept me from totally losing my head and run around the hall stark naked.

Thank God I survived that ordeal. I had changed the batteries just last sem, could it be that uni-level calculations take up so much computing power?

A few pointers that I took away from this experience.
- Always bring extra calculators.
- Or bring an abacus.
- Listen to the signs around you for any impending disasters.
- I am UNABLE calculate (1-2.5) without the use of my calculator.

trying to concentrate.

I'm back in the library (again) trying to study for my midterms. This semester has been crazily fast.

It is interesting to note that since the last time I was here (november?) the same few uncles are still in the library hogging the powerpoints. Wow. Does it mean that for the last 3months or so, they have been coming to the library everyday? Now that is what i call commitment. That is why I have decided not to go race against the clock and try to snatch a powerpoint as I zoom past them on the stairs. That is why, I have been waking up later. That is why... Okay I'm just plain lazy.

Anyway, its a Friday and I managed to snag a powerpoint even though i reached at 10:02am (the library opens at 10:00sharp and the powerpoints are taken up by 10:00:59am). Well I certainly hope that the uncles have some form of life and decide to go shopping or sth.

What I plan to achieve today, after Angel arrives, is that we can finish up our stupid position paper and not bother about it until after the midterms. I suppose managing to get a powerpoint is a good start to the day as we can't do jackshit without our laptops powered up.

Things are certainly going to get more interesting as time passes.

This is for you - (:

happy new year!

It the middle of the semester again. Extremely fast, but it has been extremely fun.

I don't wanna think so much.

true eh?

For those with poor eyesight (like me).

Why is it when your wife or girlfriend gets pregnant, all her friends rub her belly and say 'congratulations!'

...but nobody rubs your dick and says "Good Job".

I got this from this website (http://happymonsters.tumblr.com/).

end of week 2.

School is already going to be into full flow and the work is definitely going to be challenging. So far, I have been quite enjoying my lessons, with critical thinking being the most interesting mod so far.

The assignments are, of course, horrible to attempt, but I like what is being taught, to read between the lines, and to question what is written. Or maybe, I just like to find faults. (but I'm not a geologist!) okay that was lame.

Anyway, school has been pretty fun as usual with kublai, with our regular haunt being RH now.

I must work hard.

new year, new beginning!

After reading some blogs, I realised I haven't had my first post of the new year. Okay, this shall be my inaugural post of 2010.

Review of the year?

Definitely I love my new found freedom after two long years serving the nation, but with new found freedom comes new found fats. Haha!

Stepping into the working world for the first time has definitely been a unique experience, and it made me vow never to hold an admin job when I start working, ultimate boredom working as an admin assistant at world scientific.

Thankfully, with zw and ceo working at the same place it was SUPERB company, with zw's terminal exactly on my left. Not forgetting on my right, miss jinghan, the one who disturbs me from my productive hours at work (productive hours range from 8.30am to 10.30am MAX), but you get the idea. Of course, for ceo, with his contant disagreements with charmander, and the surprise farewell gift.

It was a good solid 5months of working, inclusive of a lot of laughs, yawns, and memories of myself dashing into the toilet to stifle my laughter.

And of course, my 21st birthday, it wasn't really a grand affair, and I only invited the people closest to me, around 30 people. It was a great feeling, to have all my friends eating together(ravenous monsters they all are), and possibly even making friends with each other.

The next big step of my life, entering university, though aided loads by my OG peeps, the headache inducing process of bidding, going for lectures by inept lecturers. Loads of outings, laughs, and mugging.

Last but not least, this bright spark in my life? Only time would tell.
